Dear Friends,

When it was announced in June '06, that Clifden Boat Club would be hosting the "West Coast Sailing Championships" in ' 07,
it was decided to pull out all the stops and run the best possible event that we could.

A team was put together, separate from the main Boat Club committee of the following people :

Bobbi o Regan ...Secretary
Damain Ward ...Advertising and Media
Giles Fraser ...Advertising and Media
Julia Awcock ...Fundraising
Jessica Kane ... Fundraising
Rory Kenny ...Treasurer
Bernard Whelan ...Moorings and Pontoon
Andrew Bell ...Moorings and pontoon
David Griffin ...Moorings and pontoon
Kenny Flaherty ...Moorings

Volunteers:
John Durning, Peter Bailey, Charlott Fraser, Neisa Fraser, Thomas Davis, Aran Bell, Alvin Bell, Loraine Bell, Emer Joyce, Ulla Krauss, Bernie Ward..and cousin from US Christine, Donal O'Scannail, Percy Hyland, Mathew and Mike, Owen Coyne, Tom Clancy, Sam Fraser, Roger Snow, Nikki Lacey, James Kane, Ian Shanahan, Mary Kenny.

RIB Drivers and crew:
Paddy Pryce, Alan Van Cleef and Pat Guy, John B Mannion and ("Vinnie Minnie") Vincent Knight, Garham Heanue with driver Jamie, Aran Warnock.

With this team in place, we set about putting the plans together. Many months of meetings followed throughout the winter to ensure a smooth event. From painting the club house to organising the racing officials, the committee boat, flying marks, deep water mooring, water taxis and mark boats, to marquees and banbarees, food for both mornings and evenings, staff to run the club and race office for the event, 30 moorings had to be made up and set , we needed a pontoon to get crews into the taxis, the list goes on, and all work was completed ahead of schedule and all by the volunteers in the club.

The reason these poeple on the above mentioned list got together like they did, and gave up so much of their personal time to the club is because they they are passionate about sailing and proud of their club, and want to see the sport of sailing succeed here in Clifden. and for the event to be run as profesionally as possible. For this they are commended on an absolutely fantastic job.
Well done and thank you.

Paul Ryan.
